A Musical Dawn over Villa Rufolo, the magic is repeated at the Ravello Festival

The traditional “Dawn Concert” on the Villa Rufolo Belvedere in Ravello offered the “veteran” and a favourite with the Festival public, Aurelio Canonici, conducting the “Nuova Orchestra Scarlatti”… The opening of the concert is reserved for the invocation Jesce sole … The emotional impact of the only piece which Canonici conducted using the score was totally effective… The programme unfolded with high quality, running through the classical repetory of Beethoven’s Fidelio, the symphonic romanticism of Schumann’s Manfred and Mendelssohn’s Fingal’s Cave, the Italian melodrama of Giuseppe Verdi and the “passion” of Giovanna d’Arco and that of Vincenzo Bellini’s Norma… Aurelio Canonici conducts with a sure technique and efficiently directs the orchestra in a repertory which he has clearly in command…
